SHARPSTOWN – A man is sharing his frustration with Houston Police after his girlfriend was followed and her car was broken into.
“Zero confidence in them right now and it’s going to be hard for them to regain my confidence in this community,” Jeffrey said.
The burglary was caught on camera and the man says he’s been getting the runaround from law enforcement.
Jeffrey thought he did everything right. He filed a report only to be told his case was low priority. The thieves took his girlfriend’s laptop and AirPods.
The items can be replaced, but Jeffery believes police can do more to get the bad guys off the street so no one else becomes a victim.
“This is happening on a daily basis, and it needs to stop,” he said.
Jeffrey is talking about jugging incidents across the Houston area. His girlfriend was too afraid to talk on camera after she says she was followed from a coffee shop in Memorial City to the Central China restaurant on Bellaire Boulevard last Monday.
“Very traumatizing for her,” he said.
Security footage from the parking lot shows a dark colored Jeep pulling into the parking lot. The SUV parks next to his girlfriend’s car.
After a few seconds, the thieves can be seen pulling and tugging on the back passenger window before bashing it in.
“There was three assailants two of them threw the other perpetrator in the vehicle. He grabbed all the stuff, and they pulled him back out,” Jeffrey said.
They drove off with a laptop, air pods and other valuable items.
“She’s an immigrant so they took a lot of stuff that she worked very hard for,” he said.
After calling police and waiting for several hours, the couple filed a report at a substation and followed up with an officer the next day.
“The guy basically said push you to the back. You’re not a murder, you’re not a rape. You’re not important basically. It’s just a laptop. That’s exactly what he said.
Turner asked Jeffrey if he believes it’s right?
“I don’t think that’s right knowing across the street, Ms. Troung just about a year ago was in the same situation. She was paralyzed,” he said.
Jeffrey even told police about the stolen items being at a residence in Fort Bend County. He even notified police in Stafford.
“They had given us the run around with answers basically kicking the can back to HPD saying that their case. That’s their investigation. When we contacted HPD again they said no that’s their territory so it’s back and forth back and forth,” he said.
Jeffery says there is no cooperation with police, and he keeps getting the runaround.
He and his girlfriend are going through the insurance process trying to get the car fixed.
Turner reached out to Houston Police.
A spokesperson for Stafford Police sent KPRC 2 a statement:
