HOUSTON – A man has died after being hit by a car near The Galleria.

Police said as the 45-year-old man entered the crosswalk on the corner of Westheimer and Sage roads around 7:30 this morning. He was reportedly struck by a white Volkswagen Jetta traveling eastbound.
According to HPD, the impact caused his body to land against the back of another vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The male driver of the Volkswagen did not stop immediately after the crash but turned around the block and returned to the scene. The driver was questioned and eventually released.
Police said the driver had a yellow light and the man who was hit didn’t have the right of way.
The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
