CROSBY, Texas – Authorities on Hwy 90 near Crosby-Lynchburg had to clean up a massive diesel spill Thursday after an 18-wheeler collided with another vehicle.

Details were limited, as it’s an active scene, so the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has not disclosed how the crash happened. However, according to a social media post by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, it happened in the 2900 block of US-90 just northeast of Houston near Sheldon Lake.

The crash caused about 100 gallons of diesel to spill onto the roadway, spanning about a quarter of a mile. As a result, the westbound lanes of US-90 were shut down at Runneberg, with traffic exiting at Lindstrom.

Currently, no injuries have been reported.

Sheriff Gonzalez says there is not too much traffic but drivers should expect delays. Hazmat crews have responded to the scene, he adds, and it could take crews a few hours to clean up the spill caused by the wreckage.

No additional details have been shared as of this writing, but KPRC 2 will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
