Investigators say the neighbors had come to the apartment hosting the birthday party several times and asked they turn down the music. The third time the neighbor came back with a firearm and demanded they turned the music off and fired the weapon in the air while they were struggling with it. They were able to wrestle it from him.

Police said the shooter went to his home, retrieved another firearm and began shooting through the back door of the residence hosting the birthday party, striking three of the complainants.
