HOUSTON – Authorities are piecing together what led to a man’s death in Washington Corridor after he was reportedly walking his dog late Easter Sunday outside his apartment complex.

Houston police say it happened a little after 11 p.m. at Co-Op Summer Street apartments near Studemont Street. That’s where a man was found suffering from several gunshot wounds in the apartment’s parking lot.
The medical examiner identified the 23-year-old man who died as Christensen Hill.
Witnesses told police the man was next to his car with his dog when two men approached him. At some point, gunfire was heard, and the two men took off with Hill’s dark gray Cadillac. HPD said the man’s dog was not hurt.

KPRC 2 obtained surveillance video capturing several gunshots and a dog barking during the time of the shooting.
Anthony Salgado lives at a different apartment complex down the street and has never felt safe.
“I usually don’t frequent this area that much because it does tend to get pretty dark. I do see people that look a little sketch or what not so I just try to be careful,” Salgado said.
HPD told KPRC 2 they responded to at least a dozen calls here at the CO/OP apartments in the past six months. Those calls include robbery, suspicious people and loud noises.
Sunday’s murder is not the first for Summer Street.
Records show a 28-year-old man was also shot and killed near a different complex in December 2022. Police released this surveillance video of car believed to be involved.
In the past month, HPD’s crime map showed there have been 15 crimes reported within a half mile radius of the area. Those include aggravated assault, burglary and car theft.
Salgado said his friends car was stolen a couple weeks ago.
“We got an email a few days ago that says to walk with a buddy or do not walk at night or just be vigilant of your surroundings and stuff like that,” said
An anonymous neighbor who lives at a different apartment complex on summer street said her car was recently broken into.
“Not only break in to our vehicles, we’ve had a ton of break ins to our units. Living on a ground unit. It’s scary because we have a lot of displaced individuals who try to break in and sleep on your patios,” said the neighbor.
“You don’t expect to get shot when you’re walking your dog,” Salgado said.
