HOUSTON – Former Houston police officer Gerald Goines is re-indicted on two felony murder charges.
Goines is accused of creating a search warrant a judge signed off false information. A spokesperson for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office tells KPRC 2 the re-indited charges were issued by a Grand Jury Monday.
“We can confirm that Goines was re-indicted today on two felony murder charges. We look forward to seeking justice for the victims’ families when presenting our case as scheduled in June,” the DA’s office told KPRC 2.
Just last week, two felony murder indictments against Goines, who led the deadly 2019 Harding Street drug raid, were quashed, according to the office of 482nd District Court Judge Veronica Nelson.
Goines attorney successfully argued the language the DA’s office was using, was loose at best.
In 2019, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office charged Goines with murder after Houston Police Department investigators determined the drug rain that killed homeowners Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas was based on lies and a bogus warrant created by him.
Goines also faces charges by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District but has yet to be tried by a judge or jury at the state or federal level.
