Luckily the homeowner just went inside from the porch a few minutes before the bus crashed into their home.@KPRC2 pic.twitter.com/EQmMH9ZIvw
Dianne Murphy owns the home that was hit. She tells KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding that she just went inside from sitting on the porch a few minutes before the crash.
“It would have hit me. You see the chair where it was at,” Murphy told KPRC 2. “I was getting thirsty and I said, well go get something to drink. And I think something told me to go. I wasn’t going to go. And I said, yeah, go, go, go get something to drink. So thank God I did go.”
Minutes later the crash happened. A utility pole, a street sign and Murphy’s van were also damaged in the accident.
The La Marque Police Department says that the crash may have been caused by a mechanical issue with the bus. No charges are expected to be filed.
