Privately owned school bus crashes into La Marque home, two injured

LA MARQUE, Texas – A privately-owned school bus crashed into a home along Main Street in La Marque on Friday afternoon.

The La Marque Police Department responded to the call at the corner of Main Street and Lone Star Street around 1:45 p.m., according to a post on Facebook.

The school bus is privately owned and was not transporting students, according to a spokesperson with the La Marque Police Department.

Two people on board, the driver and their 13-year-old child, were hurt in the crash. They received minor injuries.

Dianne Murphy owns the home that was hit. She tells KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding that she just went inside from sitting on the porch a few minutes before the crash.

“It would have hit me. You see the chair where it was at,” Murphy told KPRC 2. “I was getting thirsty and I said, well go get something to drink. And I think something told me to go. I wasn’t going to go. And I said, yeah, go, go, go get something to drink. So thank God I did go.”
