The Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said Alejandro Zair, 18, from Porter led deputies from the sheriff’s office on a chase after fleeing. A deputy constable from Precinct 4 joined in the pursuit.
The constable’s office said during the pursuit, Zair hit the deputies vehicle, causing a crash. Zair then fled on foot.
The constable’s office said the deputy sustained a broken nose, bruised ribs, and had to receive stiches and staples. His patrol vehicle was also totaled.
On Sunday afternoon, the constable’s office shared a video showing Zair’s arrest.
The constable’s office later shared that a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy had tried to pull over Zair for a traffic violation on Sorters Road when Zair fled.
The Precinct 4 deputy would join in on the pursuit which went on Kingwood Drive, Northpark Drive, and onto Highway 59.
Zair’s Red Camaro collided with the deputy’s patrol vehicle near the FM 1314 exit on Highway 59.
“The impact sent the Deputy’s vehicle airborne, causing it to leave the roadway and crash into an embankment, resulting in the vehicle being totaled. The Camaro also struck a telephone pole before the suspect fled on foot,” the constable’s office said.
Zair was taken into custody Sunday morning. He is facing charges of felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle, with an additional outstanding felony warrant for a similar offense in Harris County, according to the constable’s office.
