Rosenberg Library has issued a statement on social media regarding the distribution of solar eclipse glasses from their Children’s Department. Concerns have increased after it was discovered that the glasses in question have not been approved by the American Astronomical Society’s list of safe suppliers of solar eclipse viewers and filters.

It is possible that the glasses may not provide adequate protection for viewing the solar eclipse.
The Rosenberg Library released a statement on their social media:
“If you received a pair of solar eclipse glasses from the Rosenberg Library Children’s Department, please exercise caution
We were notified today that the glasses have not been approved by the American Astronomical Society’s list of safe suppliers of solar eclipse viewers and filters.
Because of this, be aware that the glasses may not be safe for viewing a solar eclipse.
We apologize for any inconvenience.”
