HOUSTON – Two people were hospitalized Tuesday morning after an 18-wheeler crash in north Harris County.
It’s unclear what led up to the crash, but Sheriff Ed Gonzalez took to social media saying it happened in the northbound lanes of I-45 and North Fwy.

That’s where Sheriff Gonzalez said the big rig landed on its side before crashing into a car and the impact caused the vehicle to go into the HOV lane. There were two people inside the vehicle, who were rushed to the hospital in unknown condition.

The Sheriff confirmed via X (formerly known as Twitter) that the 18-wheeler was carrying packages, none of which are believed to have hazardous materials.

TxDOT also arrived on the scene to help repair the concrete dividers destroyed by the crash and traffic was said to be slow, but steady. Crews say it could take several hours to clean up the wreckage.
As of noon Tuesday, Sheriff Gonzalez confirmed TxDOT has completed the repairs and re-opened the lanes.
