The shooting took place in Montgomery County on the night of March 11.
You can watch the full released bodycam footage here. Viewer discursion is advised.
Roosevelt Overton Jr., 44 can be seen exiting a liquor store following the robbery and getting into a black SUV.
Before he has time to drive off, multiple undercover police vehicles swarm his vehicle, forcing him to evacuate on foot carrying a pistol.
He sprints down a strip mall before turning and running into a bayou.
Police officers surround him and demand that he drops the gun. He starts to turn toward them holding the firearm, and multiple officers begin firing. He died at the scene.
The bodycam footage from the incident seems to align with the initial report, as Overton can be seen still holding the weapon and not attempting to surrender at the time that deadly force was used.
The wounded male has been confirmed deceased. This occurred in the City of Oak Ridge, in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office @MCTXSheriff will be the lead investigative agency. Media partner staging area is at 26834 Interstate I-45 North. https://t.co/Fb2599PHpq
