HOUSTON – As the heavy storms we saw early Wednesday morning begin to dwindle, some Houston areas are still dealing with the aftermath, resulting in some areas closing schools.

From 4 - 7 a.m., strong thunderstorms moved through southeast Texas, bringing severe weather threats including large hail, wind gusts up to 85 mph and potential for tornadoes.
During the storm’s peak, CenterPoint Energy reported about 145,000 customers without power. As of 7:45 a.m., more than 75,000 customers remained without power.
This included some schools, like Columbia Brazoria ISD, which announced on Facebook it would be closing schools due to power, phone as well as internet outages. Here is a list of schools closed in the Houston area:
Columbia Brazoria ISD
There will be no school for CBISD today, Wednesday April 10th due to power, phone and internet outages.
