Coast Guard rescues 6 people on sinking boat near Freeport

FREEPORT, Texas – Six people were on a boat that was taking in water seven miles off the shore of Freeport on Sunday. Luckily, the U.S. Coast Guard was able to save the day.

At around 12:30, bystanders on shore alerted officials that the 20-foot vessel was in trouble.

Watchstanders launched a 45-foot response boat and issued an urgent marine information broadcast.

Less than an hour later, the boat was located. All six boaters were embarked and returned to shore safely.
