Dustin Moore, 43, was charged with one count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and three counts of medical practice act violation.

KPRC 2 spoke with the Assistant District Attorney in Consumer Fraud, Sheila Hansel, who said the judge found probable cause for the charges during Moore’s first court hearing.

The judge set an additional bond at $80,000 and explained that at the time of his arrest, Moore was on deferred adjudication for a 2021 arrest for assault on a family member impeding breath in Galveston County.

Hansel said the allegations against Moore stem out of a federal investigation into substances that are being illegally imported or smuggled into the United States, and then being injected into people who are seeking cosmetic surgery.

“These (injections) are not approved by the FDA in any way, shape or form for use in the human body,” Hansel said.

According to Hansel, Moore was operating out of SkinnySculpt MedSpa which appears to be located southeast of Houston.

Specifically, Hansel said that there is a case of a woman who went to have butt injections done by him in February. She claimed to have received the unknown substance which then caused her to become gravely ill over a series of days.

In this case, Moore has been charged with aggravated assault as well as unlawful practice of medicine.

“He has no license that allows him to inject anything into anyone’s posterior,” she added.

Hansel added that she has seen an uptick in these cases lately in the Houston area.
