Woman critically injured in deadly 2023 crash that killed 3 former UH football players dies

HOUSTON – Houston Police say a woman who was critically injured in a deadly crash that killed three former University of Houston football players in downtown Houston in November 2023 has died.

The 30-year-old woman died on Monday, according to police. Her identity has not yet been released.

The deadly crash happened at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2023 at 2000 Fannin Street.

The three former UH football players, D.J. Hayden, Zach McMillian, and Ralph Oragwu died when a black Chrysler 300, driven by 25-year-old Christian Herrera, ran a red light and struck a black Acura SUV. Herrera, along with 32-year-old Lauren Robinson who was driving the Acura, also died in the crash. A third person, 31-year-old Frank Johnson, who was a pedestrian, died after he was struck by the Chrysler which left the roadway.

A 32-year-old man who was also a passenger in the Acura was treated and released. The woman who died Monday was also a passenger in the Acura.

The investigation continues.

Hayden played in the NFL for nine seasons, entering the NFL in 2013 as the 12th overall pick of the draft. He also played for the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington franchise. McMillian played for four years at UH. Oragwu played for five years at the university.
