The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it happened in the 3200 block of Palston Bend Lane in north Harris County.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the incident started when deputies responded to reports of a man acting erratically. Callers said the man was standing in the street, stabbing himself with a knife, and rubbing blood on cars.
Gonzalez said the man was also carrying a large wooden cross over his head.
Deputies told the man to drop the knife and tried to use less than lethal force to disarm him to no avail.
