HOUSTON – A lightning strike from Monday afternoon’s storms struck a runway at Hobby Airport.

The airport said the lightning bolt struck runway 13R, forcing it to close for repairs.

The storms also caused delays at the airport aside from the lightning strike.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority. We are working diligently to assess the damage and make the necessary repairs to reopen runway 13R as quickly and safely as possible,” the airport said.
Around 7 p.m., the airport said repairs were complete and the runway had reopened.
Repairs are complete, and the runway is back in service.
