THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Monday night’s severe weather caused a rocky start to the week, with lightning strikes making headlines.
For example, the KPRC 2 tower camera was rolling when Monday afternoon’s electric storms first moved through the area. Another lightning strike hit a runway at Hobby Airport, forcing it to close for repairs.

And in The Woodlands, authorities said a home was struck by lightning, causing a small fire in the attic. Firefighters said on a social media post they were called around 5 p.m. to a home in Grogan’s Mill and initial crews at the scene reported light smoke coming from the roof.
At 5pm TWFD was dispatched to a Whisper Willow Place in Grogan’s Mill for a home that was struck by lightning. E101...
