The National Battle of the Bands is back, y’all.
On Thursday, event organizers revealed which bands will be hitting the field later this year.
Organizers shared significant details of the event during the news conference, including the official participating HBCU band lineup and official events.
The following bands were announced in the lineup:
- Bethune-Cookman University’s Marching Wildcats
- Prairie View A&M University’s Marching Storm
- Tuskegee University’s Marching Crimson Pipers
- Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul!
This year’s celebration, themed “Celebrating Champions of Culture,” is expected to be full of events and activities commemorating a decade of musical brilliance and cultural significance.
This year’s showcase is scheduled for the weekend of August 23 at NRG Stadium.
According to event organizers, The National Battle of the Bands’ mission is to enhance the exposure of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), their marching bands, and their roles in educating aspiring musicians and developing future leaders.
The musical showcase, hosted in collaboration between Webber Marketing and the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority, occurs annually in Houston at NRG stadium.
Leaders of this event say that they have generated over $1.3 million in scholarships for the participating colleges and universities.
