HOUSTON – Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women who have passed away while serving in the U.S. military.

This year in Houston, several events have been planned to commemorate the day.
LIST OF EVENTS
At 9 a.m., the Houston National Cemetery hosted a Memorial Day ceremony to commemorate and honor those Service Members who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

At 11 a.m., Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee held a Memorial Day service honoring the fallen military service heroes and first responders.
Veterans Outreach Agencies, FEMA, SBA, and Red Cross are expected to be in attendance and will be available for disaster recovery assistance.
The celebration will be held at the World War II Heights Memorial Plaza Heights Blvd. & 11th.
Earlier in the day, veterans from Power Home Remodeling’s (“POWER”) Houston office are holding a Ruck March in remembrance of those who have passed on in hopes of educating the local community about the significance of the holiday.
The outdoor march will take place on Monday, beginning at Memorial Park on the Cullen Running Trails Center from 7:30 a.m. to roughly 9:30 a.m.
