It happened a little after 2:30 a.m. when investigators say a driver ran a red light and nearly hit a Houston PD patrol car. Officers tried pulling the vehicle over, but the driver kept going, so a brief chase ensued.
Authorities say the chase lasted less than two minutes before the driver flipped their vehicle several times before landing on its roof.
There were at least four people inside the car, and not much has been disclosed about them except one of them died at the scene, another died at the hospital and two others were seriously hurt.
During the chase, officials noted the driver appeared to be impaired, and one of the windows had been broken out during the chase. Further investigation also shows that the four individuals were or may have been involved in some burglary incident based on things officials found in the car.
It’s unclear, however, who the driver was i.e., if they were the ones who died at the scene, at the hospital, or remain in serious condition.
No additional information was shared, as of this writing, but an investigation remains underway.
