Houston area’s severe storm story told in video

Severe storms moved faster than expected into the Houston area Tuesday afternoon, causing flash flooding, dumping hail the size of marbles and quarters and cutting power at one point to more than 370,000 CenterPoint and Entergy customers.

In Magnolia, a 16-year-old who was working a summer construction job was killed when a house being built collapsed during the storms.

It was bound to happen and it did - some people hit hard during the May 16 derecho storm were hit again. “Oh man, it’s hard.”

Downtown Houston, hit hard by the May 16 derecho storm, got more than 3 inches of rain Tuesday. There was street flooding in many areas in and around the Houston area.

KPRC 2 photojournalist Rayan Graham captured this video of hail coming down near FM 1960.

KPRC 2 photojournalist Brett Doster was in the KPRC 2 Storm Tracker. This scene is along the feeder road at I-45 and Tidwell.
