Healthcare worker arrested for assaulting disabled patient in The Woodlands

A healthcare worker was arrested for injury to a disabled person after he allegedly assaulted one of his patients.

On May 28, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District 6 units responded to a call regarding an injury to a disabled person on Hopvine Court in The Woodlands. Sheriff’s deputies spoke with the victim’s mother, who reported that his home healthcare provider had physically abused him.

Detectives from the MCSO conducted an on-scene investigation and determined that the suspect had assaulted the victim days earlier. The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Ruben Cano from Conroe. Later that day, Cano was taken into custody for Injury to a Disabled Person, a third-degree felony.

Detectives are requesting that any former patients of Ruben Cano who may have experienced physical injury under his care contact the MCSO at 936-760-5800, option 3, and refer to case #24A149685.
