Fans of the Lone Star Showdown will be in for a treat this weekend, as heated rivals Texas A&M and Texas have been paired in the same regional of the NCAA College Baseball Championship.

Texas A&M will be hosting the regional in College Station, as they boast a 44-13 overall record and earned the No. 3 overall team in the Field of 64. Texas will come to town as the third seed in the regional with a 35-22 overall record. The College Station regional will also feature second seed Louisiana-Lafayette and fourth seed Grambling.

The Aggies and Longhorns have already met once earlier this season, as A&M traveled to Austin for a midweek showdown ahead of conference play. In that matchup, the Aggies scored four runs in the seventh inning on their way to a 9-2 victory.

The double-elimination bracket will start Friday, with A&M playing Grambling and Texas playing ULL. From there, the winners and losers of each game will play each other Saturday. The results of those games will dictate who plays Sunday and Monday, if necessary.

The only scenario that would prevent the two Texas powerhouses from matching up would be either team losing its first two games, while the other wins each of its first two games.
