13-year-old charged with capital murder after deadly attempted robber in west Houston

A 13-year-old boy is facing capital murder charges after an attempted robbery turned deadly in west Houston.

The shooting occurred at around 4:10 p.m. on February 17 at Wilcrest Drive.

Authorities found the victim, 18-year-old Bryan De La Cruz Chaparro, sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Further investigation determined that Chaparro was killed during an attempted robbery and a 13-year-old boy was the suspected shooter. The teen was already in custody of the Harris County Juvenile Probation when the murder charge was filed.

The identity and booking photos of the suspect are not available at this time.
