The funds are intended to go towards improving evacuation routes and repairing areas damaged by erosion in Fort Bend and Sugar Land. Specific projects include the Brazos River Project, which will address erosion along the Brazos River at U.S. 59 that has damaged evacuation routes that are vital for severe weather events. KPRC 2′s Rilwan Balogun reported on the erosion in the area last month.

The Texas General Land Office will be providing more than $4 million for the Brazos River Project, and Fort Bench County will receive more than $38 million for various evacuation route repairs and erosion projects across the county.
