HOUSTON – If you’re trying to get out of the house this Saturday, why not support some local artists while sipping on a cold one?

Dozens of Houston artists will have their work on display at Frost Town Brewing on N Jackson St. in east downtown. All art will be 5″ x 7″ original pieces priced at $100 or less.

The art show will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. According to Blake Bloodworth, who goes by @87Collective on Instagram, this is not the first time he’s hosted a program like this and while most of the artists are from Houston, it’s attracted people from all around.

“The 5″x7″ group art show is one I’ve curated a few times in the past and hosted at Frost Town Brewery,” he tells KPRC 2 digital producer Ahmed Humble. “The idea behind it came from a show I contributed to in Chicago in the past and started here in 2022.”

Anyone who is familiar with the art world knows original work can be pricey and it doesn’t help that it’s not always easy for other artists to get their work exposed. For that reason, Blake sought to give other artists like himself a platform to showcase their hard work and for residents to bring a piece of that home.

About 20 artists are expected to show up and present their work and Frost Town Brewing seemed to be the most ideal spot!

“The whole intent is a chance for artists to show their work to a new audience, as well as a chance for collectors to get affordable original art,” he added. “It’s a great location that’s a family-friendly large brewery that hosts other events throughout the year, and it’s a show that can help you expand your collection, or discover your newest favorite artist.”
