Law enforcement officers stand in for fallen Sgt. Gutierrez at son’s graduation

The son of fallen officer Sgt. Ramon Gutierrez was escorted and celebrated by his father’s brothers and sisters in blue during his high school graduation.

Ramon’s colleagues ensured Nomar wasn’t alone on this important day.

A veteran of 20 years, Gutierrez served in HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division for 13 years, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Gonzalez said the deputy was a “true professional” who was “loved by many.” Gutierrez, 45, was fatally struck in 2022 while the law enforcement veteran was conducting traffic control in northeast Harris County.
