It happened shortly before 11 p.m. when deputies with Harris Co. Sheriff’s Office were called to a disturbance at the apartment on Airtex off I-45 N. Responding officers said they heard gunfire and found several people at the pool partying, with visible guns in their hands.

In fact, Major J. Nanny with HCSO said gunfire could be heard in several directions at the apartment complex as well as people screaming. Some deputies also encountered an unidentified 18-year-old with a gun, who was shot by one of the officers.

The deputy who shot his weapon is described as having about 14 months with HCSO and will be placed on administrative duties (per protocol) while an internal investigation is launched.

At last check, he was in stable condition and taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, the crowd scattered after the shooting so there aren’t a lot of witnesses deputies can refer to but it’s believed not everyone who attended actually lived at the apartment complex.
