Lockdown at LBJ Hospital after early morning shooting and chase

A high-speed chase and shooting incident early Sunday morning resulted in a brief lockdown at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.

The situation began around 1 a.m. at the intersection of 610 and Homestead. According to the Houston Police Department, a collision occurred between a truck and a vehicle. The driver of the truck fled the scene, and the occupants of the other vehicle pursued the truck to 9700 Homestead, where a heated argument ensued.

During the altercation, additional family members arrived, causing the truck to flee. As the driver of the truck started to leave, the suspects opened fire, striking one of the truck’s passengers in the head. As the family transported their injured family member to LBJ, they were pursued by the suspect vehicle.

The truck ultimately crashed, and the suspects fired one last shot before fleeing the scene.

The hospital briefly went into lockdown as a precaution, which was lifted once the situation was deemed safe.

The person who was shot is in critical condition and has been transferred to another hospital. No one else was injured. Police have detained one of the passengers of the truck but are still searching for the alleged shooter. If you have any information, please contact HPD.
