Houston apartment fire leaves dog dead, six cars destroyed, residents displaced

An apartment fire in Houston left several residents displaced and resulted in the death of a dog, the Houston Fire Department reported.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 12:46 a.m. at an apartment complex at Briar Dale Ct. Upon arrival, crews found three garages engulfed in flames, which ultimately destroyed six cars parked inside.

The fire extended into one of the apartments, causing significant smoke and water damage. The occupants of the affected unit will be assisted by the Red Cross.

Several residents were evacuated, including a service dog. However, another dog tragically did not survive despite the efforts of the firefighters.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by HFD arson investigators.
