First community meeting tonight for residents to voice opinions on I-45 expansion

HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Transportation is holding a series of public meetings, starting Tuesday, to discuss plans to expand Interstate 45 in and around downtown Houston.

This study aims to address safety, mobility, and infrastructure needs along I-45 South, from I-69/US 59 in Downtown Houston to Beltway 8 South, amid the area’s projected growth. Residents can voice their opinions on this extensive road project at the first community meeting tonight.

Meeting information

  • Virtual public meeting: Available online starting Tuesday, June 11 by 5 p.m. Access via the project webpage.
  • In-person open houses:
    • June 11: Time: 5 to 7 p.m. Location: Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport, 9100 Gulf Freeway
    • June 13: Time: 5 to 7 p.m. Location: Houston Texans YMCA, 5202 Griggs Road

Public comments must be received or postmarked by June 28. Study materials are available at the TxDOT Houston District Office and online. For those without internet access, inquiries can be made via phone at 713-802-5000 during business hours.
