It happened around 11 p.m. when Houston police said they were called to a two-vehicle crash on the South Freeway of Hwy 288 near W Bellfort Ave.
Responding officers as well as Houston firefighters said they found two vehicles crashed into a traffic signal, with a White SUV on top of a sedan.
Authorities say there were two people, described only as women, inside the SUV, one of whom was trapped inside. After the extrication, the unidentified and her passenger were sent to the hospital. Tragically, investigators say the driver died from her injuries.
In the other vehicle, was a man who was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
It’s unclear how the crash happened, so it’s unclear who was at fault but authorities are still investigating.
