DICKINSON, TEXAS – A Galveston County teenager who vanished from her own home in the middle of the night last week has not been seen or heard from since.
Le Andra Tristan’s disappearance from her home on Barbados Calle is being considered concerning but not yet suspicious, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office told KPRC 2 on Tuesday.
“We want her back home. It’s caused so much pain,” her mother Pauline Espinoza told only KPRC 2′s Bryce Newberry.
Tristan recently graduated from Dickinson High School early and had plans to start taking college courses and become a nurse.
But on June 4, Espinoza said Tristan asked her for a Q-tip and dental floss around bedtime.
She described it as an ordinary evening, but that was their last conversation. By the time the sun rose, Tristan had vanished.
The front door was still locked, Espinoza said. Her cell phone, house key, and driver’s license was left behind. A surveillance camera didn’t capture where she went.
“If you left voluntarily, I think I would have had answers by now,” Espinoza said. “She comes from a good home. There’s no reason for her to be gone, especially this long with no clues.”
Espinoza said there hasn’t been any activity on Tristan’s social media accounts, and after scouring her phone, she didn’t find any messages that indicated a plan to leave.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office told KPRC 2 Tristan is considered a runaway. Tristan doesn’t have a history of running away, though, and her mother finds it unlikely considering her daughter’s big dreams for her future.
Her mother said she was excited and looking forward to her next steps but on Friday missed an appointment with an academic advisor.
Without any devices on her, investigators said they aren’t able to track her like they typically would with missing people.
Detectives plan to start knocking on doors near the family’s home and investigators are asking neighbors to check their surveillance cameras for last Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, GCSO Capt. James Roy said.
"I want her back. She’s a part of me, you know. This is so hard,” Espinoza said. “Every day is hard. I’m waiting for that phone to ping.”
