Two vehicles struck by bullets in road rage shooting near South Freeway

HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after two vehicle were riddled with bullets after a road rage shooting in southeast Houston.

One of the vehicles hit belongs to an off-duty Houston Police officer.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were called to the scene, located at SH-288 and Holl Hall Street around 1 p.m.

“They found two vehicles that have been struck by gunfire,” said Lt. Larry Crawson with the Houston Police Department. “We believe it was part of a road rage incident.”

A woman, along with a male passenger, was driving when at least one bullet went through her vehicle. Police said the woman suffered minor injuries from flying glass and was treated at the scene.

“There’s at least one gunshot that went through that vehicle,” said Lt. Crawson. “The occupant or the adult female was driving had some, scratches from glass from shattering of the windshield. But no serious injury treated and release her at the scene.”

A pickup truck, driven by an off-duty Houston police officer, was also struck by gunfire but he was not harmed.

“His vehicle was struck by gunfire. Fortunately, he was not injured.”

Both vehicles were seen with bullet holes in the front windshields. Miraculously, those rounds didn’t hit the people driving.

“Very fortunate today, how that gunshot that went through that car didn’t strike the driver,” said Lt. Crawson. I don’t have a clue. So, very fortunate that nobody was injured today. We want to encourage people out there on the freeway not to get involved in arguments with people.”

The Houston Police Department says they’re looking for a dark-colored sedan.

No arrests have been made.
