A premature infant girl was found abandoned near a bayou in west Harris County, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies responded to the 5500 block of Casa Martin around 9 a.m., where they discovered the infant. The baby, still with the umbilical cord attached, was found wrapped in a blanket.
The baby was transported to a hospital and is currently in good condition.
“The infant is doing very well,” a HCSO deputy told KPRC 2 in an email.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the abandonment. A security camera at a nearby home recorded footage of a person walking away from the bayou around the time of the abandonment.
The footage isn’t clear, but authorities believe this is the person responsible for leaving the child.
KPRC 2 reporter Gage Goulding is working with the homeowner to acquire a clearer video of the suspect.
HCSO Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released an updated description of the suspect:
Update: we need your help! We are seeking info about a young Hispanic or White male, slim, fair complexion with black hair, that was holding the infant wrapped in a towel. He was wearing a black shirt, possibly gray pants. The male was on foot on the Plantation
