Chase in NW Houston ends with 2 arrested after foiled bank scheme

Following a failed forgery scheme at a Capital One Bank, authorities arrested a man and a woman after a dramatic car chase in northwest Houston.

Deputies with Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said responded to a forgery call at the Capital One Bank in the 3000 block of FM 1960 on June 14. When deputies arrived, they saw the suspect vehicle fleeing the parking lot and tried pulling the driver over, but they refused to stop, so a chase ensued.

The chase ended in the 900 block of Eagle Glide Dr., where deputies identified the driver as Damaris Valero.

Investigators also said James Stegall, the man who reported the forgery claimed he was forced by suspects to open accounts using fake ID’s. However, further investigation revealed that Stegall was complicit in the incident.

Valero was charged with felony evading and her bond was set at $7,500 by the 482nd District Court. Stegall was charged with forgery of a government document and is awaiting bond from the 351st District Court.
