HOUSTON – Some new changes are coming to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) after its board chair announced he’d be stepping down.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, ERCOT announced Paul Foster would be stepping down as Chair of the company’s Board of Directors.

It’s unclear why he would be stepping down, but Pablo Vegas, ERCOT’s President and CEO praised Foster’s work, describing it as integral to ERCOT and Texas’ electric power industry.
“Pauls’ extensive experience, insight, and pursuit of grid reliability have been integral to ERCOT and to the electric power industry in Texas. Paul has contributed his time and efforts to see ERCOT through some challenging times and has consistently acted in the best interest of TEXAS. His legacy will leave a positive and long-lasting impact on the future of the electric grid and our state.”
