Thousands head to downtown Houston for the ‘Cry Out Experience’, hosted by Pastor Keion D. Henderson, Lighthouse Church

HOUSTON – People from all around the country are making their way toward downtown Houston this weekend to be part of a unique, one-of-a-kind event created to help them unleash their inherent abilities, spiritual gifts, and talents.

KPRC 2′s Digital Reporter Moriah Ballard had the chance to sit down with Senior Pastor and Founder of The Lighthouse Church Keion D. Henderson about his vision behind the conference.

“I wanted to create a confluence where faith and culture meet,” Keion said. So we’ve got people like Bishop T.D. Jakes on the faith side. We’ve got Deion Sanders on the culture side. We’ve got a concert at night with Tye Tribbett and Fred Hammond but we also have a Christian comedian there. So it’s just a place where people can come and figure out who they are, where they’re going, and we’re going to give them the tools on how to get there.”

This is the second annual Cry Out Experience and Pastor Henderson said it keeps growing and expanding its impact far and wide, with guests coming in from all walks of life.

He added that he and his team named it the ‘Cry Out Experience’ because right now, so many people are holding things in and in search of a safe space to release and refocus before going back to their day-to-day lives.

“I believe there’s so many people who hold things in, you know? I’m frustrated, I hold it in. I’m stressed, I hold it in. I need help, I hold it in,” he said. “You know, closed mouths can’t get fed so you have to cry it out. And I believe that, that’s kind of the thing that we wanted to leave in this city. Just, express yourself. And we believe that when you cry it out, it comes back.”

Besides being able to enjoy the experience, the talent lineup is also unbelievable.

In addition to the other names, those in attendance can expect to hear from people like NBA Hall of Famer, Author, Entrepreneur Chris Webber, Media Personality Charlamagne, Social Justice Leader Tamika Mallory.

Houston’s own, DJ Kiotti will be in the building along with Grammy-award winners Fred Hammond and Tye Tribbett who will also be hitting the stage in concert.
