ANGLETON, Texas – The hunt for an escaped inmate who took off sometime around midnight Sunday in Brazoria County has concluded, authorities confirmed.

Details are limited, but the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) says Kidanny Robles, 33, was discovered missing around midnight at the Clemens Unit trusty camp in Angleton.

TDCJ confirmed on social media Robles was caught about three miles from the jail. That’s where officials said a TDCJ captain shot Robles in the arm after he continued to run despite orders to stop.

Court records also say Robles would have been eligible for parole in 2022, but his projected release date would have been 2031. As a result of Robles’ escape, and due to the massive search, TDCJ visitations were canceled.

This is the second escaped inmate out of Brazoria County KPRC 2 has reported on this year, but the fifth story we’ve reported on escaped TDCJ inmates within the last year.

The 33-year-old is now facing additional felony charges for escaping.
