HOUSTON – Authorities are piecing together what led up to a shooting Saturday night in east Houston, where they say a man walked several blocks before he was hospitalized.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. when Houston police say a witness noticed a disturbance in the 6100 block of Tidwell off I-69 near Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. That’s where a witness saw a suspect (unclear if it was a man or a woman) push an unidentified man against a wall, pull out a gun, and shoot twice into the ground by his feet.

Lt. Riley with Houston PD says the shooter then fired one round into the victim’s head and “calmly” walked away from the scene. Witnesses told police the unidentified victim walked for “several blocks” before ending up on the 9300 block of Homestead.

Responding officers treated the man at the scene before rushing him to a hospital, where at last check, was said to be in stable condition.

Meanwhile, police have no information on the shooter but were looking for surveillance videos and are asking people with information to reach out to HPD or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
