Man arrested for animal cruelty charges in Richmond after pomeranian’s death

A man has been arrested following allegations of animal cruelty after a violent incident involving a teacup pomeranian in Richmond.

On June 28, Fort Bend Precinct 1 Constable deputies responded to an urgent call at a veterinarian clinic in Cinco Ranch regarding an injured animal.

Following an investigation, it was determined that Pengfei Ji, during an argument with his wife at their Richmond residence, allegedly inflicted severe injuries on her teacup pomeranian.

Surveillance footage revealed that Ji grabbed the dog by its rear legs, swung it over his head, and slammed it into a dog house multiple times before discarding the animal into the yard. The dog succumbed to its injuries and was pronounced dead at the veterinary office.

Ji, 31, was taken into custody by Precinct 1 deputies on a third-degree felony charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals. He was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

“This just leaves me speechless,” said Constable Chad Norvell in a press release. “I’m glad we were able to put him in jail and that he’ll face justice for his horrendous actions.”
