‘Avoid the area:’ Multiple agencies responding to large wildfire in Brazoria County

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – Officials in Brazoria County are urging people to avoid the area around County Road 227 and County Road 208 as authorities respond to a large wildfire in the area.

Multiple fire departments and the Brazoria County Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in responding to the fire. The fire was first reported around 3 p.m. Sunday.

While no homes are currently threatened and no injuries have been reported at this time, officials say the fire is not under control.

The fire is on the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge.

The Brazoria County Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire currently covers about 300 acres and is 0% contained.

Authorities are working to identify the cause of the fire as well as bring it under control.
