Where is Kalie Goodwin? A question her friends and family have been asking since 29-year-old Goodwin was taken from her Baytown home on or about April 21, 2024.
Around 7 p.m. that night, an associate of Kalie’s said she got into a car with an unknown man at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Decker Drive in Baytown.
The very next day, her mother got a call from a man she didn’t know. He demanded money and asked her to send it to a CashApp account.
According to Harris County court records, the men demanded $600 and Kalie’s mother heard her “screaming and crying for help” while saying things like, “Momma, my face is deformed.”
Detectives identified the owner of the CashApp account and determined the same woman owned the car Kalie got into. When they contact the woman, they found out her boyfriend -- murder suspect Quan Flowers -- had her car.
Flowers, 39, is accused of shooting 24-year-old Megan Rouse to death in Houston on May 3, twelve days after Kalie Goodwin disappeared.

Flowers allegedly shot and killed Rouse, who also had blunt force injuries, according to to her autopsy. Her body was found on a desolate, dirt road in southwest Houston.
Detectives tracked Flowers down in Houston and arrested him on unrelated charges. With information they got during that arrest and phone data, they figured out that 55-year-old Kevin Patterson was the man who made the demanding call to Kalie’s mom. When they arrested Patterson at a home in Fort Bend County, they found evidence linking Kalie to the same residence.
“While at that residence, she had been assaulted by Mr. Flowers and taken from the residence,” Baytown Assistant Police Chief Steve Dorris said during a briefing Wednesday to talk about the case and urgent search for Kalie.
On June 20, Flowers was charged with aggravated kidnapping in Kalie’s disappearance.
According to the court records, a witness told investigators he’s known by the nickname “Country” and that he “preys on younger girls, sells narcotics, and frequents the motels nearby.”
Kalie is still listed in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a missing person, police said.
“She’s a sister, she’s a daughter, she’s a granddaughter, she’s a friend and she is a piece that is missing from our family. We want to bring her home and I beg anybody that knows something, please say something.” Kalie’s mother Kaci Richardson pleaded Wednesday.

Kalie may have been wearing a sky-blue sundress with sunflowers and black, flat, open-toe sandals, or she may have been last seen wearing a white hoodie. She has a tattoo sleeve on her right arm, as shown below.
“As a father of three daughters myself, my heart goes out to Kalie’s mother,” said Baytown’s Chief of Police John Stringer. “I can only imagine the heart wrenching pain she feels at this time.”
“We need peace. This whole family needs peace. Her friends need peace,” Kalie’s mom said.
Baytown Police said Wednesday they are not aware of any other cases that Flowers may be connected to.
