AUSTIN, Texas – Tropical Storm Beryl is approaching the Texas coast and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is the acting governor during this time.
Governor Greg Abbott is currently leading an economic development mission in East Asia. The governor departed Friday and will return on July 13, according to a press release.

Abbott will visit Taiwan, South Korea and Japan during his trip.

The Governor is joined on the trip by First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Secretary of State Jane Nelson, the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office Executive Director Adriana Cruz, Texas Economic Development Corporation Board Secretary Adrian Cannady, Texas Economic Development Corporation President & CEO Aaron Demerson, and a delegation of five Texas legislators and 23 Texas business and community leaders.
Acting Governor Patrick has already issued a disaster declaration for multiple Texas counties ahead of Beryl’s landfall.
Beryl is expected to make landfall as a hurricane on the Texas coast sometime Monday.
