Lake Houston lowering set for Sunday morning ahead of Tropical Storm Beryl

Houston Public Works has announced a temporary lowering of Lake Houston by 12 inches in preparation for the expected rain event from Tropical Storm Beryl.

The water level adjustment will start at 4 a.m. on Sunday, July 7 and it will take 20 hours to reach the desired reduction.

Once the process is complete, Lake Houston will be at an elevation of 41.4 feet. Property owners with assets along the shoreline are advised to secure their belongings to prevent damage from the changing water levels.
