The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on July 4. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division, Vuong was driving an SUV north on Concord Green when he struck the young boy, who was riding his bicycle. Instead of stopping to assist the injured child, Vuong fled the scene, dragging the bicycle for a short distance before it became dislodged.

Responding officers found the boy lying in the intersection of Windy Stone and Concord Green. The little boy was airlifted to a trauma center via Lifeflight, where Capt. Kinnard-Bing says he died from his injuries moments later.

Detectives located the boy’s bicycle at Greenhouse and Keith Harrow, approximately half a mile from the crash scene.

Vuong has been booked into the Harris County Jail.
