NRG Stadium to house up to 250 discharged patients amid Hurricane Beryl power outages

HOUSTON, Texas – As we continue to deal with the effects of Hurricane Beryl in the Houston area, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick provided updates on relief efforts at the state and local levels.

During a news conference, Lt. Gov. Patrick announced that the NRG Center will soon be opening to house up to 250 hospital patients who are ready to be discharged but cannot return home due to power outages.

The facility will help free up space for new patients and alleviate the current backup issues at several Houston-area hospitals.

Additionally, 25 more ambulances will be deployed to respond to emergency calls more quickly.

Additional details have not yet been released.
