UPDATED LIST: Cooling, charging centers across Houston residents can turn to amid ongoing power outages

HOUSTON – As Houston residents wait anxiously for CenterPoint Energy to restore their power, the City of Houston as well as its nonprofit and county partners are activating more centers for residents needing respite.

However, in case you need to charge your cell phone or any of your other electronics, the City says you may turn to these facilities as well.

Cooling Centers

The city will offer facilities for cooling and charging over the weekend. The Houston Health Department recommends people without electricity consider delaying storm-debris cleanup until their power is restored to avoid heat-related illnesses. Once power is restored, people can take frequent breaks in their air-conditioned home.

Overnight shelter at Community Fieldhouse

If you’re still without power or lost power again, Community Fieldhouse is offering a cool place to stay over. Doors will open at 10 p.m. and and Wi-Fi will be included.

• Gates will be closed from midnight until 6 a.m. (you can be let out upon request for emergencies)

• Security and staff will be on site. Constable will do multiple patrols throughout the evening.

• No pets please.

• Kitchen closes at 9:45 p.m. and bar will be closed. You may bring food. No alcohol is permitted.

• Restrooms available / No Showers.

• Please bring, sleeping bags / your own tent.

• No beds or cots will be provided.

• This will be a cool and quiet environment. Open play ends at 11pm.

• Anyone who is disturbing will be asked to leave.

• Kids 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

• First come first serve. We have to obey our Maximum capacity.

• Waiver must be signed upon arrival.
