The Houston Humane Society has begun recovery efforts after suffering extensive damage to its facility during Hurricane Beryl.
Initial estimates for the repairs are thousands of dollars, and HHS is working to fund the repairs. They are also looking to construct their building to withstand weather better in the future.

Damage to the facility includes shattered windows, uprooted trees and flooding within the adoption center. The power is also out in the facilities where pet food and other supplies are held, and broken fences and scattered debris make it difficult for staff and volunteers to walk dogs.
“As we navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, our top priority remains ensuring the well-being of every animal in our care”, Gary Poon, president and CEO of Houston Humane Society said in a statement. “This appeal aims to address the immense impact caused by the storm, at a time when we are also at capacity with animals to feed and shelter. We are grateful for the support of the community during this difficult time.”
